Panipat MC poll: Turn out in large numbers, CM urges voters

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said voting was the base of democracy. If people of Panipat wanted to strengthen the roots of democracy, they should come out and vote on March 9.

Saini was addressing the 'Panna Pramukh' sammelan organised by the BJP during the ongoing Panipat Municipal Corporation (MC) elections, to be held on March 9.

Panchayat and Development Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, MLAs Pramod Vij and Manmohan Bhadana, MC election incharge and former minister Dr Banwari Lal, former MP Sanjay Bhatia and Gajender Saluja also addressed the gathering.

BJP district president Dushyant Bhatt presided over the sammelan.

Saini urged the 'panna pramukhs' to go door-to-door to motivate people to vote on March 9. He said the 'panna pramukhs' were an important link, and the BJP was going to form a 'triple-engine' government in the civic poll.

He said as soon as he became CM, he gave jobs to 25,000 youths, and after March 12, all the promises would be fulfilled.

Saini said to develop any country or state, health facilities would have to be strengthened, and the problem of malnutrition would have to be eradicated. Now, dialysis facilities were being provided at government hospitals, due to which the lives of patients were being saved, and the patients were also saving Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000.

Taking a dig at the Congress, the CM said the Congress would not be able to win any seat in the MC poll. The opposition leaders were far removed from the ground reality and had no knowledge of the election environment, he claimed.

Panipat had got a chance to create a new record in terms of maximum voting once again, he said.
