The matter came to the fore when some students were reciting the ‘Kalma’ at home, and their parents overheard it. The parents then approached the school administration, along with members of the Hindu Mahasabha, and demanded the termination of the services of the teacher.

The Principal, Indu, said the teacher had been with the school for the past one year. She said during the inquiry it came to light that students had asked about Islamic prayer method from the teacher, and to satisfy their curiosity, the teacher recited one or two lines of the ‘Kalma’.

No police action had been initiated into the matter, the SHO said.
