Parking lot raided, two held in Gurugram

A joint team of the Gurugram police and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) raided an illegal car parking lot being run on a green belt land of the GMDA in the Sector 18 area. The illegal parking operators there were charging Rs 50 per vehicle from owners. An FIR was registered at the Sector 18 police station and two parking workers were nabbed from the spot.

110 vehicles found parked

According to the complaint filed by GMDA XEN Jogiram, an illegal car parking was being run by illegally occupying green belt land of the GMDA in front of springboard business hub, Sector 18, where the operators were doing illegal recovery from the drivers of vehicles. The team raided the spot on Thursday and found 110 cars parked in the illegal parking lot there.

“During the raid, two workers Raman and Praveen were found collecting parking fee. When asked for the necessary documents to run the parking lot here, they could not show any. The accused even gave the printed parking slip to vehicle owners by charging Rs 50 per car,” Jogiram said.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the BNS at the Sector 18 police station against illegal parking owners and workers. The police arrested both workers from the spot.

“During questioning, the arrested parking workers revealed that the parking owners were Virender, a native of Hisar, and Sonu from Jind. A mobile phone used for collection of parking fee through UPI and Rs 630 were recovered from their possession. We are conducting raids on the illegal parking operators to nab them”, said inspector Surender Kumar, SHO, Sector 18 police station.
