A ‘Run for Unity’ event will be organised on Friday, October 31, at the district headquarters in Rohtak to mark the birth anniversary of late national leader and freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

“The run, dedicated to the unity and integrity of the nation, will see enthusiastic participation from people across all sections of society,” said Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta.

After a video conference with the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Gupta and Special Officer to the Government of Haryana Pankaj Nain, held a meeting with district officials and issued necessary directions regarding the event’s preparations.

Gupta said like every year, this year too, the event will witness active public participation from the residents of Rohtak.

“Through this event, the participants will take a pledge for national unity and integrity,” the Deputy Commissioner said, adding that school and college students, athletes, youth from Nehru Yuva Kendra, senior citizens, women and common citizens will all participate in the run, pledging to uphold unity and brotherhood in society.

Gupta stated that the event would symbolise national unity, with participants running while carrying the national flag, expressing their patriotism, and paying tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the departments concerned to start preparations at both departmental and community levels to ensure the event was celebrated in a grand and dignified manner.
