Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) in Sirsa recently marked its 23rd Foundation Day by planting trees. Vice-Chancellor Narsi Ram Bishnoi led the initiative by planting a tree and spreading the message of environmental protection.

Bishnoi spoke about the importance of education and research. He said universities should focus on studies that helped society, not just academics.

He praised the university’s students for excelling at the national level in education, sports and cultural activities.

Many departments, including botany, law, commerce, chemistry and psychology, planted trees on the campus.

The Hindi Department and the Youth Welfare Directorate organised lectures and cultural programmes. Dr Manju Nehra exhorted students to set goals and work hard, while Raj Kumar emphasised the importance of time management.

The Journalism and Mass Communication Department hosted a special lecture on the role of media in the modern world.

The Zoology Department arranged a painting competition, and the Fashion, Design and Lifestyle Technology Department conducted a one-day fabric painting workshop. During the workshop, teachers helped students understand the art of painting on fabric, giving them practical experience.

Graduate Studies School Dean Sushil Kumar highlighted the value of such workshops in providing hands-on learning experiences for students.
