Terming the recent deaths of two young players due to falling of basketball poles on them as culpable homicide, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has demanded a high-level inquiry to identify those responsible for negligence and registration of an FIR against them.

“Two promising young players, Hardik and Aman, recently died when dilapidated basketball poles fell on them in separate incidents. These were not cases of accident or normal death, but a death caused by sheer government negligence. We demand a high-level inquiry to fix the responsibility in this regard and strict action against those responsible for the lapse,” Hooda said while addressing a news conference at Rohtak on Wednesday.

He pointed out that Hardik was a national-level player with a bright future, having already been signed by a club in the USA. Similarly, Aman, just 15 years old, was also a promising player.

“The Congress demands an impartial, high-level investigation into this matter and strict action against the culprits. An FIR should be registered against those responsible for the negligence, and action should be taken to teach the entire system a lesson. Additionally, the families of both deceased players should be immediately given government jobs and adequate financial assistance,” he maintained.

The Leader of Opposition stated that the current BJP government bears direct responsibility for these accidents.
