Police Commemoration Day observed at Madhuban

The Police Commemoration Day parade was organised on Tuesday at the Police Martyrs’s Memorial located in the Haryana Armed Police (HPA) Complex, Madhuban, in the district.

The armed police contingent presented a ceremonial salute to the martyrs. Inspector- General of Police, HPA, OP Narwal laid a wreath at the memorial and paid homage to the police personnel for their supreme sacrifice.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), 5th Battalion, Vikas Krishna, read out the names of the martyrs and expressed gratitude to their families. The parade was commanded by trainee Probationary DSP Shri Abhishek. Officers and police personnel from various units of the police complex, along with academy trainees, also offered floral tributes at the memorial.

Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 in remembrance of the 10 brave CRPF jawans who laid down their lives while defending the nation against Chinese forces at Hot Springs, Ladakh, in 1959. Since 1960, the day has been commemorated across the country to honour the courage and sacrifice of police personnel. The bronze sculpture at the Madhuban Police Martyrs’ Memorial was designed by Usha Rani Hooja, and stands as a proud symbol of valour and sacrifice.

The ceremony was attended by Surinder Pal Singh, DIG HPA, Vinod Kumar, Commandant Fourth Battalion, Baljinder Singh, SP Academy, Pushpa, SP Academy, and DSPs Sharif Singh, Naresh Kumar, Jitendra Samota, Jaswant Singh, and Devendra Singh.
