Hundreds of farmers had assembled in Sirsa on Tuesday for a sit-in outside the residences of Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala and Power Minister Ranjit Singh.

The farmers later decided to sit on an indefinite dharna at Bhumman Shah Chowk adjacent to the residences of the two leaders.

President Ram Nath Kovind has given his assent to the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, the Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and the Farm Services Bill; and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, which were passed by Parliament last month.
