The Faridabad police on Thursday seized Rs 2.54 crore in cash from owners of three different vehicles. A senior police officer said the Income Tax Department would take the action as per the rules.

A police spokesperson said keeping in view the Assembly poll in Haryana, the police had set up check-posts to curb the movement of illegal drugs, liquor smuggling or cash as long. “Over Rs 2.51 crore was seized from a vehicle at the Sarai toll point while Rs 20 lakh was seized from another vehicle. Similarly, Rs 13 lakh was seized from a vehicle at the Shooting Road checkpoint in the Surajkund police station area,” said the spokesman.
