The CIA-1 unit of Kurukshetra police arrested a man and seized poppy plants weighing 8.7 kg from his possession on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Sajjan Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra.

A Kurukshetra police spokesman said that the CIA-1 unit got information that Sajjan Singh had cultivated poppy plants along with garlic plants near his house without licence. A raid was conducted and poppy plants weighing 8.7 kg were seized. A case was registered at Ismailabad police station.

Sajjan was produced before a court which sent him to judicial custody.
