Karnal, January 13

A 26-year-old woman was crushed by a Punjab Roadways bus near Nilokheri on National Highway-44 today.

Reena, a resident of Kheri Mannsingh village, was around eight months pregnant. She was going with her husband on a mobike to a doctor in Nilokheri for a check-up and ultrasound scan. As they reached near Nilokheri, a bus hit their bike and Reena died on the spot, family members said.

Her husband Pardeep Kumar also sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment. The bus driver fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind. The police have registered a case of negligent driving against the driver and impounded the vehicle. Reena’s body has been sent for a post mortem, said Naresh Kumar, investigation officer, Butana police station.
