Dr Munjpara Mahendra Bhai, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, said the amount given to pregnant women under the Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) would now be given in two instalments instead of three. Not only this, if a woman has a second child, a daughter, she will also be given Rs 6,000 on her birth.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
