Prepare comprehensive plan for sewerage & potable water in Sonepat, officials told
Chief Urban Development Adviser DS Dhesi directed officials of the Sonepat Metropolitan Development Authority (SMDA) to prepare a comprehensive action plan for improving the city’s drinking water and sewerage. He issued these directives while chairing a review meeting on ongoing development projects at the mini secretariat.
During the meeting, Dhesi reviewed the water flow in drains No. 6 and 8, which discharge into the Yamuna. He gave strict instructions to ensure that no untreated effluent or wastewater is released into the river. He also directed that the tendering process for all approved projects, including those under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Committee at Kundli, be expedited.
While reviewing the status of the proposed Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and associated sewage lines in Kundli, Dhesi was informed by the officials that two separate proposals had been prepared. He instructed that the tendering process for both be initiated within a week. Additionally, he asked for the immediate transfer of the MC land identified for the STP project.
Dhesi also inquired about the transfer of master roads, potable water infrastructure and sewage systems to the SMDA. He announced that the Tau Devi Lal Park would be developed by the SMDA, and that its transfer by the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) would be finalised soon.
Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Yadav provided updates on the construction of an integrated sports complex in Sector 4, noting that the SMDA officials have already conducted site inspections. Dhesi also directed the officials to prepare a detailed development proposal for Kharkhoda.
The meeting was attended by SMDA Chief Executive Officer Mona Srivnivasan, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Yadav, Municipal Commissioner Harshit Kumar, SMDA Deputy CEO Veena Hooda, and other senior officials.
