Rewari: Top brand labels printed in other states, reveals probe

Preliminary probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the case of illicit liquor trade at a closed school building has revealed that the operators got holograms and labels of big liquor brands printed from other states.

A total of 1.15 lakh holograms and 1.18 lakh labels of prestigious brands, 3,452 empty bottles, 10,425 bottle caps, 2,895 cardboard boxes and 1,404 bottles of illicit liquor were seized by the police from a closed school building in Kosli town on Sunday evening

The operators had hired the services of a printing press owner residing at a village under Kanina sub-division of Mahendragarh district. The police had taken the printing press owner in custody for interrogation, said sources.

The police also arrested a man, identified as Somvir, from the spot and also recovered Rs 1.5 lakh cash and 10 boxes branded ‘Old Monk rum’ from his car.

“During probe, Somvir disclosed the name of the printing press owner who had been associated with them for the past over two months. His job was to get holograms and labels printed from other states,” said Kosli DSP Jai Singh.

The DSP maintained this Mahendragarh resident did not have the facility of printing holograms and labels. Hence, he got these printed from other places. This man is being interrogated to get the name and address of the printing press, the DSP added. “It has also come out that the trade of illicit liquor was being perpetrated in partnership. The names of two other partners have also surfaced. Raids are being conducted,” Jai Singh added.
