The Gurugram police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) for stealing and firing at a police team. The accused had been absconding for five years.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Mohabbat, a resident of Godholo village in Nuh district. An FIR was registered against him for committing theft and attacking a team in 2019.

“The accused had opened fired at the officials while he was running away after stealing a bike in the Sector 10 area with his two accomplices. His two other accomplices were arrested, but Mohabbat had managed to flee away. He was still absconding and the court had declared him a PO. The team of PO staff, led by Sub-Inspector Devi Charan, arrested the accused at the Nuh bus stand. He is being questioned,” said a spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
