Prof SK Gakhar, a member of Haryana Backward Commission, has been appointed as vice-chairperson of Haryana State Higher Education Council. His appointment letter was issued by Anand Mohan Sharan, Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education), on Tuesday.

Prof Gakhar (65) is a renowned academician and has long administrative experiences in higher educational institutions. He has served as Vice-Chancellor of three universities, including Indira Gandhi University (IGU), Rewari, Ch Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani, and Sri Sri University, Odisha.

“I shall focus on implementing the National Education Policy at higher educational institutions to make education more inclusive, equitable and holistic,” said Gakhar.
