Although new poles were placed in various streets and roads months ago, many remain unattended, disrupting daily life and blocking access to key areas.
In residential colonies and busy markets, these poles have become a nuisance. Sukhanpreet, a resident of Preet Nagar, said, “A pole has been lying in front of my house’s parking area for months. It has blocked the space completely, making it impossible to park vehicles.”
Similar complaints have come from Chandni Chowk, where a pole has been lying outside a private showroom for months. Rohit Raj, a local, said, “We’ve informed the DHBVN SDO several times, but no action has been taken yet. These poles neither get installed nor removed, creating problems for shopkeepers and customers.”
The unattended poles are not just an eyesore; they are also causing practical problems. People are struggling with blocked streets, restricted access to properties and difficulty in parking vehicles. Residents claim their complaints have gone unheard, adding to their frustration.
Addressing these concerns, Dheeraj Kumar, executive engineer, DHBVN City Division, acknowledged the delays. He said, “We are replacing 9,000 poles in the district and several teams are working on the project. Our target is to complete the work by March, 2026. The poles lying in streets and roads will also be installed soon.”
Despite these assurances, residents feel the pace of work is too slow. They are demanding immediate action to clear the blocked roads and install the poles at the earliest.
