Properties seized in drug cases inspected
Dr M Ravi Kiran, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Karnal Range, on Friday inspected case properties seized under the NDPS Act.
After complete verification, the recovered items were officially sealed. As per a police spokesperson, 130 NDPS-related cases are under process for disposal of case properties. These include seized narcotics such as poppy husk, cannabis, heroin, opium and charas.
Dr Kiran and Kaithal Superintendent of Police Astha Modi carried out a detailed inspection of the storage registers and cross-verified each listed item stored in the ‘malkhana’.
Out of the total cases, 109 are still under trial. The samples from these cases are to be retained securely, while the rest of the material will be disposed of as per legal protocol.
For 21 decided cases, the retained samples are scheduled for destruction.
The seized narcotics will soon be destroyed as per legal guidelines under the supervision of the Drug Disposal Committee at a certified waste disposal facility in Bazida Jatan village of the district. After inspecting the ‘malkhana’, ADGP Dr M Ravi Kiran conducted a review meeting with district police officers at the office of the SP.
During the meeting, he directed officials to remain vigilant and ensure peace, and law and order, in the region.
He conducted a comprehensive review of crime statistics and instructed officers to expedite pending cases, tighten the grip on criminal elements, and further strengthen public safety mechanisms.
Emphasising proactive policing, he also highlighted the importance of intensifying anti-drug campaigns.
