Proposals of entrepreneurs to be considered: CM Saini

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the suggestions received from the textile industry would be considered for inclusion in the upcoming Budget to ensure that industries benefit from the state government’s policies and generate maximum employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister held a pre-Budget consultation meeting with representatives of the textile industry on Thursday. Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh was also present during the meeting.

The CM encouraged entrepreneurs to submit their suggestions either through the government’s dedicated portal, or in writing. The suggestions would help formulate new policies to strengthen the state’s social and economic infrastructure, he said.

Saini said the government had formulated a policy to make the textile sector self-reliant and continuous efforts were being made to promote small industries. The government's objective was to ensure a significant contribution from the industrial sector towards the nation’s development, he said.

The CM said to realise the vision of an inclusive Budget, the government was inviting suggestions from various sections of society so that the best ideas could be incorporated.

He said for the first time, the government had introduced a system allowing any resident to submit Budget-related suggestions online. So far, 9,000 suggestions had been received through pre-Budget consultations with representatives from various sectors across the state, he said.

The entrepreneurs raised several issues, including incentives for small and medium enterprises, uniform subsidy, removal of project caps, increase in subsidy amount, freight assistance for export-oriented units, stamp duty reimbursement, interest subsidy on term loan, refund of VAT on piped natural gas, market development assistance and special economic zones.
