Suspended CBI Judge Sudhir Parmar is set to face criminal trial after the Haryana Government granted sanction to prosecute him on charges of corruption and criminal misconduct.

Parmar, an Additional District and Sessions Judge-rank officer of the Haryana Superior Judicial Service, has been sanctioned for prosecution under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), officials confirmed.

The state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had booked Parmar, his nephew Ajay Parmar, and Roop Bansal, director of real estate giant M3M India Pvt Ltd, in a corruption case under multiple sections of the PC Act and the IPC.

At the time of registration of the case, Parmar was posted as Special CBI Judge, Panchkula. He is accused of showing “favouritism” towards certain real estate developers under probe by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). A number of FIRs involving these developers were pending before his court then.
