The Physical Training Instructor at Government Senior Secondary School, Dhani Gopal village, Bhuna block district Fatehabad, was absent from duty again on Tuesday. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol during school hours for several days, the teacher sent a leave request to the principal via WhatsApp. Acting Principal Mukesh Kumar confirmed the incident.

Students have been enduring mental stress due to the teacher’s behaviour and had informed their parents about his constant state of intoxication. However, due to the teacher’s familial ties in the village, parents overlooked the issue. Frustrated, the students anonymously reported the matter to the District Education Officer (DEO) Fatehabad and Block Education Officer (BEO), Bhuna.

On learning about the issue, DEO Sangeeta Bishnoi visited the school on Monday to conduct a medical test and take action. However, just five minutes before her arrival, the instructor left the premises. Questions are being raised about who tipped off the instructor.

A relative of the teacher requested a transfer at a meeting with BEO Narendra Sharma and Principal Mukesh Kumar, citing reputational harm caused by his behaviour. The relative said the teacher’s son was in Australia and his daughter was pursuing her higher education in Kota, but his alcoholism was tarnishing the family’s image.

Principal Mukesh Kumar stated the teacher was unreachable during the DEO’s visit. Later, the teacher claimed he had gone to get iron supplements for the students. On Tuesday, instead of reporting on duty, he sent another leave request via WhatsApp.
