High Court to hear IPS officer Y Puran Kumar’s plea against Haryana DGP on July 2

Chandigarh, June 11

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today fixed July 2 as the next date of hearing a petition filed by IPS officer Y Puran Kumar against the state of Haryana, Director General of Police Manoj Yadava and other respondents.

In his petition placed before Justice Manoj Bajaj’s Bench this morning, Kumar also sought the quashing of the preliminary inquiry initiated on his complaint against Yadava on the ground that as the same was contrary to the law and was violative of Section 18A of the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Kumar submitted the same was communicated vide email dated May 26. Directions were further sought for staying the preliminary inquiry, initiated on his complaint, during the pendency of the present petition.

IPS officer Y Puran Kumar has alleged DGP Manoj Yadava has been targeting him since July 2020 in a vindictive manner and discriminating against him on common issues by singling him out.

The High Court has already set a three-month deadline for the Haryana Additional Chief Secretary (Department of Home) to consider and decide complaints by Kumar against Yadava.

He had alleged that the DGP had been targeting him since July 2020 in a vindictive manner and discriminating against him on common issues by singling him out. His complaints were with regard to his partial attitude, discriminatory treatment, violations of the All India Service (Conduct) Rules 1968 and lowering of a Cabinet minister’s official status. — TNS
