Tarif, a resident of Kangarka village in Nuh, was produced in a local court today and remanded to seven days of police custody for further interrogation.

According to police sources, the arrest was made based on classified inputs indicating that Tarif had been transmitting confidential information concerning Indian Army movements and defence preparations to Pakistan over a prolonged period. He had also been encouraging locals to apply for Pakistani visas.

“We have arrested the accused on the inputs from the Central Investigation Agency who provided SIM cards for money. We are questioning the accused after taking him on seven days of police remand. It is too early to say anything more because this matter is related to the security of the country,” said Harinder Kumar, DSP (Headquarters), Nuh.

The arrest took place on Sunday evening near Bawla village in the Tauru area. As the police team approached, Tarif allegedly attempted to delete WhatsApp chats from his phone. Authorities recovered two mobile phones from him at the time of his detention.

Forensic analysis of the devices reportedly revealed deleted messages, photos, videos and chats with Pakistani contacts, including military-related visuals and documents. Tarif had allegedly been in regular contact with handlers using two different SIM cards, one of which was reportedly handed over to a Pakistani High Commission staffer.

During interrogation, Tarif confessed to providing a SIM card and sensitive information to a High Commission employee, Asif Baloch, in Delhi. In return, he received monetary compensation. After Baloch’s transfer, Tarif continued to pass on military intelligence to another High Commission employee, Jafar.

The case has been registered at Sadar Tauru Police Station under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act against Mohammad Tarif and Pakistani nationals Asif Baloch and Zafar.

Notably, this arrest comes just two days after another man from Rajaka village, identified as Arman, was taken into custody for alleged espionage. He is reportedly linked to Danish, another staffer at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi.
