The police in Sirsa carried out rapid raids across the district under ‘Operation Hotspot Domination’, targeting drug offenders, illegal weapons and gambling activities. Officials said teams searched around 89 locations in urban and rural areas, registered four cases and arrested nine people, including a murder accused.

SP Deepak Saharan said the Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested Omprakash alias Dhaulu from Parmarth Colony and seized 10 grams of heroin from him. In another action, police detained two youths near the waterworks in Neemla village. They recovered 6.99 grams of heroin from Rupesh Kumar and 7.98 grams from Vikram Singh. Both were booked under the NDPS Act at Ellenabad police station.

In a separate case, the CIA unit arrested Harvansh Lal from Jhorarnali village and recovered an illegal .32-bore pistol along with three live cartridges. A case under the Arms Act was registered at Sadar Sirsa police station.

During vehicle checking, traffic police detained a man, Rishi of E-Block Sirsa, after 1,090 intoxicant tablets were found in his car. The matter was handed over to the Drugs Controller Department. Ellenabad police also arrested Nand Lal for gambling in a public area and recovered Rs 1,280 from him.

Saharan said police teams are conducting night patrols due to the cold weather and have assisted 63 needy persons by arranging blankets, food and water with the support of the district administration and NGOs.
