Ambala, December 19

The Ambala division of Northern Railways on Thursday announced major disruption in train services on Friday for undertaking construction work on the Ambala-Saharanpur section.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (SDCM) Hari Mohan said at least 18 trains will remain cancelled, partially or fully, diverted or rescheduled during the eight-hour closure of the rail section due to the construction activity.

“In order to further strengthen the infrastructure and to enhance safety of rail and road users, Ambala division will undertake the construction work of two limited height subways in lieu of level crossing number 91/C between Pilkhani-Sarsawa stations and 93/C between Sarsawa-Kalanour stations on Saharanpur-Ambala section. To execute these works, traffic block will be taken for the duration of 8 hours from 9 am to 5 pm on Friday,” he informed.

According to the announcement, the Ambala Cantonment-Saharanpur passenger train will remain cancelled.

The trains that will remain partially cancelled include Meerut City-Ambala Cantonment; Ambala Cantonment-Nizamuddin between Saharanpur-Ambala Cantonment; Kalka-Delhi between Ambala Cantonment-Delhi; Nizamuddin- Ambala Cantonment; Saharanpur-Nangal Dam between Saharanpur- Ambala Cantonment; Sri Ganganagar-Haridwar Express between Ambala Cantonment-Haridwar; Haridwar- Sri Ganganagar Express between Haridwar-Ambala Cantonment; Lucknow- Chandigarh Express; Chandigarh-Lucknow between Chandigarh-Saharanpur; Haridwar-Amritsar Jan Shatabdi Express; and Amritsar- Haridwar Jan Shatabdi Express between Ambala Cantonment- Haridwar. The diverted trains include Amritsar-Saharsha Express via Ambala Cantonment- Panipat- Delhi- Hapud-Moradabad; Jalandhar-Dibrugarh Express via Ambala Cantonment- Panipat-Delhi- Hapud- Moradabad; and Banmankhi- Amritsar Jansewa Express via Moradabad-Hapud-Delhi-Panipat-Ambala. — TNS
