Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel said Rakhigarhi had emerged as the most important evidence of history and civilisation of the country which indicated that ours was the greatest civilisation.

After inspecting the ancient site today, the minister said the government would take all out steps to preserve and protect the site. “I want cooperation from local residents. This site will be developed as a tourist spot in association with the state government.

The minister, who was accompanied by Hisar MP Brijendra Singh, said Rakhigarhi and Dholavira excavations were changing the theories of the oldest and most developed ancient civilisations in the world. “Rakhigarhi is possibility the most important ancient site in the world and those who want to study the history of civilisation of mankind will have to visit Rakhigarhi. The NDA government has identified it for development and I hope that people will be proud of this tourist centre,” he said.
