A rape case registered at the Asauda police station three days ago on the complaint of a 20-year-old woman has been found to be false during investigation, claimed Bahadurgarh Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mayank Mishra on Friday.

“During the investigation, the woman admitted to have fabricated a story of rape to gain sympathy of her husband as their relationship was not going well. In her complaint, she alleged that three youths on a bike snatched her mobile phone when she was going to meet her husband at his workplace. The trio caught her when she tried to retrieve the phone. As per the complaint, the trio took her to the bushes and one of them raped her,” the DCP told the media.

Mishra maintained that on receipt of the complaint, the police registered a case and started a probe. However, they found inconsistency in the woman’s statements and evidence taken from the scene.

“After repeated questioning and counselling, the woman spoke the truth in front of her family. The rape case will be cancelled,” he added.
