The letter (a copy of which is with The Tribune) addressed to all Vice-Chancellors in the universities stated, “It has been decided to put all the recruitment processes, irrespective of the stage it has attained in the universities of Haryana on hold. Registrars of the respective universities will personally ensure status quo on all ongoing processes until further orders.”

Sources said that most of the state universities, including the Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak; Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST); Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) Hisar; Chaudhary Bansi Lal University Bhiwani; Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra; Gurugram University; JC Bose University of Science and Technology; YMCA Faridabad, are at different stages of the recruitment process for the posts of the teaching and non-teaching staff.

In February, the state government had imposed a similar ban on Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind and Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa.CBLU, Bhiwani had recently issued an advertisement for filling the vacancies while MDU, Rohtak was in the process of scrutinising the documents of candidates. Similarly, GJUST too is in the process of inviting applicants for the interview, the sources said.

The Haryana Federation of Universities and Colleges Teachers Organisation (HFUCTO) demanded a fair, high-level investigation into the alleged irregularities in recruitment in universities.

“The new recruitments are nothing but a financial burden on the state universities,” said HFUCTO president Dr Vikash Siwach.

He said that the HFUCTO had received complaints against the university administration at different universities regarding irregularities in the recruitment process. “Many university authorities have been ignoring the roster system in recruitment,” he said.
