BJP seeks Mamata’s resignation

Rohtak: Holding WB Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee responsible for the rape and murder of the doctor at a medical college in Kolkata, the BJP has sought her resignation. BJP national spokesperson Rohan Gupta said jungle raj prevails in the state under the TMC rule.

The protesting doctors also held a meeting, at which they decried the recent development in which a mob vandalised the doctors’ protest site at the Kolkata medical college.

“The meeting expressed concern at the lawlessness prevailing in Kolkata, which, they said, amounted to total failure of the Kolkata police and the law and order machinery of the West Bengal Government,” said a statement issued by the Resident Doctors Association of Rohtak PGIMS.

The association demanded additional security measures such as deployment of Central forces in Kolkata to ensure the safety and security of the protesting doctors and threatened to intensify its stir if such incidents continue to take place.

The RDA maintained that the resident doctors would continue their strike for all elective services, including the OPDs, non-emergency surgeries and indoor wards, until their demands are met and only the emergency services, surgeries and ICUs will continue.

Meanwhile, members of the Haryana State Medical Teachers Association (HSMTA) and the HCMS doctors’ association also wore black badges in protest against the Kolkata incident.

Sonepat: The resident doctors, MBBS and postgraduate students and interns went on an indefinite strike against the brutal rape and murder of a resident doctor at Kolkata hospital, halting the health services at Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women at Khanpur Kalan. The medical teachers and paramedical students also registered their protest against the incident. The protesting medical students staged a dharna in the OPD building, raised slogans and demanded safety of the medical fraternity, especially the women doctors and students. Karnal: Scores of junior residents, senior residents, interns and students of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College here observed a one-day strike on Friday, expressing their outrage over the horrific rape and murder of a postgraduate resident doctor in Kolkata. The medical professionals did not attend the OPDs, IPDs, elective and academic duties, due to which the patients had to face a lot of difficulties.
