The situation has come to such a pass that notices bearing the notification that the ''SARAL site not working'' have been put at the district e-Disha centres, where residents come for various e-services. Though the portal has started working in the past couple of days, its speed is so slow that it is very difficult to get the desired work accomplished.
Official sources point out that it may take another fortnight for the SARAL portal to resume its proper functioning as upgrading of infrastructure is being carried out. Government officials dealing with the provision of citizen services concede that they have been facing difficulty due to the prolonged non-functioning of the SARAL portal. "Residents visit us for the provision of services on a daily basis, but we are helpless as the site is not working. We have no option, but to turn the applicants, including senior citizens and women, away," said a public-dealing official in Rohtak, requesting not to be named.
District Information Officer Mahesh Bhardwaj maintained that he was aware of the inconvenience being caused to the residents for almost a month and had apprised the state authorities of the matter. "The same situation has been prevailing in the entire state. The infrastructure is being upgraded and the portal will resume proper functioning within 15 days," he said.
District Manager (CSC) Bhupender Sheoran stated that the portal had been overloaded due to CET applications and requests for domicile and other certificates. "Technical teams at the state level are making efforts to rectify the situation and things will be back on track soon," said Sheoran.
