His family has been associated with the party for nearly 65 years. Kaushik said nepotism had taken over in the party, because of which he thought it appropriate to leave it. He said he was a prospective candidate for the Tohana Assembly constituency, but the Chautala family gave the ticket to their family member.

He further said they had been serving this area for a long time. “I should be given a ticket for Tohana. I had decided to quit my job in 2005 as well. Even then I did not get the ticket and this time also I did not get it. Therefore, I have decided to say goodbye to the INLD,” said Kaushik. He said, “It has not been yet decided in which party he would in the future. It will be announced soon.”
