Villagers, under the banner of the samiti, have been on a dharna at Ramgarh-Bhagwanpur village for the past 75 days, pressing the state government to approve and begin work on the project. But with no response from the authorities so far, frustration among residents has been mounting.
“Despite nearly two and a half months of protest, there has been no communication from the government’s side. The September 7 meeting will chalk out a larger agitation strategy. The villagers on protest have shown patience, but in the absence of any dialogue or commitment from authorities, intensifying the agitation was now the only option left,” said Rajender Singh, a samiti member.
Echoing the same sentiment, samiti convener Anil Kumar asserted that the agitation would not be withdrawn until the demand was accepted. “Our village is the most suitable site for the hospital project as it is closest to the highway. Moreover, the gram panchayat has already passed a resolution offering adequate land for the project,” he said.
