Rising star Kanishk Chauhan shines in Haryana's under-19 cricket
Kanishk Chauhan, a young cricket talent from Sirsa, has made a remarkable name for himself in Haryana’s Under-19 cricket team. His outstanding batting and bowling skills helped the team win against some of the top district teams, bringing pride to his hometown. Dr Ved Beniwal, Secretary of the District Cricket Association, congratulated Kanishk at his home, offering sweets to him and his coach Jaskaran Singh Sidhu.
Kanishk’s hard work has earned him a place in the upcoming Under-19 training camp organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He will join the camp in Rajkot on April 1. Despite coming from a simple farming family, Kanishk has caught the attention of Haryana and the nation purely through his talent, without any recommendations.
Beniwal said with pride, “Hope Kanishk will represent India’s Under-19 team in the near future, which will be a proud moment for Sirsa and Haryana.” He also mentioned Yuzvendra Chahal, another Haryana star, who was an inspiration for young cricketers. Kanishk, who at present captains the Sirsa Under-19 team and trains at Shah Satnam Cricket Academy, is sure to be an inspiration for future cricket stars.
Kanishk’s coach, Jaskaran Singh Sidhu, said Kanishk represented Sirsa district in the Under-19 association matches and performed exceptionally well, helping Sirsa become the winner in Haryana. In the tournament, Kanishk scored 310 runs and took 21 wickets in nine matches, earning the "Man of the Match" title twice. His all-round performance earned him a spot in both the Haryana Under-19 one day and test teams. While playing for Haryana Under-19 in the one day team, Kanishk took 18 wickets in six matches. In the test matches, he took 32 wickets in six games, showing his remarkable skill.
