Rohingya camps raided, police seize 30 vehicles

The Nuh police launched a special search operation at Rohingya camps and took 30 suspected vehicles in its custody. Following the DSP’s murder by the mining mafia, search operations have been conducted in 33 villages so far.

The police have arrested one more accused in connection with DSP Surender Singh’s murder. He was identified as Abbas, a resident of Pachgaon village.

The police also nabbed one more accused in the DSP murder case today. He was identified as Abbas of Pachgaon village. Nine accused have been arrested in the case so far.

“We are questioning accused Arshad and Abbas after taking them on police remand. The other seven are in judicial custody,” said Inspector Naresh Kumar, head of crime unit, Nuh.

According to the police, a special search operation was launched today at Rohingya camps in Nuh, Shahpur Nangli, Punhana, Chandeni, Firozpur Namak etc. where 1,771 refugees have been residing for the past many months. Thirty vehicles were taken to Nuh Sadar and City police station for verification. These include 17 motorcycles, 11 rehri-bikes and two scooty vehicles.

Nuh SP Varun Singla said they had covered 33 villages in their special search operation and seized 391 vehicles. Challans were issued for 268 vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act, while 61 vehicles, including dumpers, JCBs and others, which were being used for illegal mining, have been confiscated.

“We have the database on Rohingya. We are now trying to verify that no bad element has taken shelter in those camps. The raids to arrest criminals, especially those involved in illegal mining, will continue,” Singla added.
