All judicial officers, administrative officers, advocates and prominent citizens of the city will also be present on the occasion,” said Ahlawat.

He said Surya Kant began his legal career at the Hisar district courts after completing his LLB from Maharshi Dayanand University in 1984, and later shifted to Chandigarh in 1985. He holds the record for becoming the youngest Advocate General.

“In view of Justice Surya Kant’s popularity and to make this historical moment memorable, a grand ceremony will be organised, beginning with a havan (ritual prayer) in the morning on November 24, the day will be written in golden letters in the history of Haryana. In the 75-year history of the Supreme Court, this will be the first time a person from Haryana will assume this highest position,” said Ahlawat.
