Rohtak dera head Kapil Puri duped of Rs 30 lakh
Rohtak, March 5
Kapil Puri, head of Gaukaran Teerth Ashram (dera) in Rohtak city, has alleged a fraud of Rs 30 lakh in the name of token money for a plot for the construction of an ashram at Ayodhya.
In a complaint lodged with the police, the dera head stated that he wanted to purchase a plot to build an ashram at Ayodhya.
“I discussed the matter with Swami Vivekanandpuri of Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh, who was known to me. He connected me to Sidhnath of Rajapur village in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh,” said the complainant.
He said Sidhnath told him about a plot near Ram Temple in Ayodhya, saying it would be suitable for the purpose.
“He asked me to deposit a token money of Rs 30 lakh in the bank account of his disciple Kanchan Kumari, which I did. However, he kept on dilly-dallying in furnishing the property details and requisite documents. Eventually, all three of them — Swami Vivekanandpuri, Sidhnath and Kanchan Kumari — switched off their mobile phones,” the dera chief stated. The police have registered a case under Sections 420, 406 and 120-B of the IPC in this regard at the cyber police station.
