Rohtak-based anaesthesiologist Dr Naveen Malhotra has been elected as the national president of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) in the elections held recently.

A former senior Professor and Head of the Cardiac Anaesthesia and Pain Management Centre at the Rohtak PGIMS, Dr Malhotra is the first anaesthesiologist from Haryana to hold this position in the 77-year history of the ISA.

Outlining his key priorities, Dr Malhotra said he aims to establish dedicated pain clinics for chronic pain patients and strengthen critical care units across the country.

“We will also make efforts to start a DM course in pain medicine, create a platform for young anaesthesiologists and expand opportunities for those in the age group of 40 to 55 years,” Dr Malhotra said.
