The Rohtak police has taken two minor boys in preventive custody in connection to the murder of Sunil of Sisar Khas village in the district.
Sunil was shot dead on Sunday night. His cousin Naveen lodged a complaint with the police, in which 14 persons were named. Rohtak Superintendent of Police (SP) Himanshu Garg had constituted a special investigation team (SIT) led by Meham Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandeep Kumar to investigate the matter.
Police investigation indicated that Sunil had been murdered to avenge the murder of Mohan of the same village, who was killed in 2019. Sunil was one of the accused in Mohan’s murder case and was lodged in jail. He had been released on bail a few months ago.
The police registered a case against 14 persons, including four women, on charges of plotting and executing Sunil’s murder. An FIR under Sections 103(1), 190, 191(3) and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 25 of the Arms Act, 1959, has been registered. DSP Kumar said the police were looking for the suspects, who were still at large.
