Rohtak visual arts varsity welcomes freshers

Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (SUPVA) here witnessed an inspiring and insightful day as part of its induction programme for the incoming batch of 2025–26. The day-long event held on Tuesday brought together India’s prominent media voices and creative professionals to address the new students and set the tone for their academic journey ahead.

The day began with a visit to the Visual Arts Exhibition curated by the faculty of visual arts, where the guests were treated to a vibrant display of students’ work. The exhibition was described as a “visual treat showcasing rare, raw talent”, reflecting the creative depth fostered within the university.

Among the keynote speakers, senior journalist Sumit Awasthi stressed the importance of discipline, skill-building, and focus. “The next four years are your launchpad—make them count. Skills that are not manifested hold little value. Your growth will come from conscious, consistent effort,” he added.

Sandeep Chaudhary, another senior journalist, encouraged students to be “fearless, forthright, and ambitious,” and entertained the audience with his sharp wit during a question-answer session. Both journalists extended an open invitation to the students to visit their newsrooms as part of educational exposure.

Filmmaker Atul Gangwar, who has closely followed the university’s film output, said: “I have seen DLC SUPVA students’ films at festivals—and they’re world-class. What this university offers in exposure and mentorship is truly remarkable.”

Senior journalist Harshvardhan Tripathi endorsed the university’s growing stature, calling it “a campus that gives wings to ambitious, creative minds.”

Welcoming the students, Vice-Chancellor Dr Amit Arya highlighted the rationale behind inviting top media professionals, “At DLC SUPVA, we believe the students learn not just from the curriculum but from lived experiences. Bringing media voices to an arts campus bridges theory with practice. I urge all students to remain disciplined, focused, yet open-minded to creative experimentation,” said Arya.

Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik opened the formal ceremony by briefing guests and students about the university’s unique ecosystem. She remarked, “The university is not just an academic institution, but a vibrant creative laboratory where young talents are nurtured into professionals.”

The event also included musical performances by students from the film & television department. Performers Anshul, Mohit, Nishtha, Vikram, and Prateek mesmerised the audience with classic renditions of Hindi film songs. The event was anchored by Dushyant, head of acting department, and Deepshikha, maintaining a warm and engaging rhythm throughout the day.

“The induction programme will continue with a Hawan ceremony scheduled for tomorrow in the open courtyard of the FTV Building—marking an auspicious and reflective start to the new academic year,” said Gunjan.
