Rohtak’s emergency response system gets a boost with over 160 new sirens
Although the war-like tension in the region has largely subsided, the Rohtak district administration is taking no chances. In a proactive move to strengthen emergency preparedness, authorities have installed sirens at 30 key locations in urban areas and across 134 villages in the district.
To ensure the system is fully operational, a full-scale rehearsal was conducted on Sunday evening. Sirens were tested simultaneously at all designated points to evaluate their performance and gauge public response. The initiative aims to enhance the district’s ability to respond quickly in case of natural disasters or any emergency situation.
Officials stated that sirens have been strategically placed at major urban hubs, including the new bus stand, railway station, Jhajjar Road, Maharshi Dayanand University, Nandal Bhawan, Khokhrakot, Industrial Model Township, Sector 6, New Grain Market, Hisar Road, Sunaria village, Pherawar, Indian Institute of Management, Tilyar Lake, Sector 1, Old ITI Ground, Old Vegetable Market and Balyana village.
In addition, sirens have been installed at important police establishments such as the City Police Station, Women Police Station, Arya Nagar, Urban Estate, Sadar Police Station, Cyber Crime Cell, Anti-Corruption Bureau office and the Regional Transport Authority. This extensive coverage ensures that both civic and security institutions are equipped for real-time emergency alerts.
Deputy Commissioner Dharmendra Singh told The Tribune that sirens have been deployed at all critical points to ensure prompt communication during emergencies or natural calamities. “Each location has a power backup in place and trained personnel have been assigned to operate and maintain the system,” he said.
While emphasising that there is no immediate threat, the DC underscored the importance of readiness. “Routine checks and periodic rehearsals will continue as part of our ongoing preparedness strategy,” he added.
