The MCYJ today pasted a demolition notice at the property, citing unauthorised construction. The notice, issued under Section 261 of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, was served in the name of Romil’s father Kapil Vohra, directing him to remove or demolish the illegal construction within 15 days of receiving the order.
“If the owner or occupier fails to remove or demolish the unauthorised construction within the stipulated time, the MCYJ will carry out the demolition at their own level,” the notice states.
“The owner/occupier will be held responsible for any damage and the expenses incurred during the demolition,” the order further said, as issued by the Deputy Town Planner of the MCYJ.
During the inspection, the Building Branch team found that the house, constructed on a 54.680 square yard plot, had no approved building plan or ownership documents. A prior show-cause notice had been issued on June 3, 2025, directing the stoppage of construction and use of the building. The owner was asked to appear before the Deputy Town Planner within seven days, but failed to do so.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference, Superintendent of Police, Yamunanagar, Surinder Singh Bhoria, said Romil Vohra had eight serious criminal cases registered against him, including five in Yamunanagar, among them the triple murder case of Khedi Lakha Singh village.
“Several youths are ruining their lives by falling under the influence of anti-social elements,” SP Bhoria said.
“Some hardened criminals sitting abroad are luring local youths into criminal activities. They adopt a ‘use and throw’ policy, pushing these young people into heinous crimes,” he added. He urged families to remain vigilant.
“The general public must keep an eye on the daily routine of their children. Some youths from Yamunanagar district have been involved in serious crimes in Yamunanagar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, and other areas,” Bhoria said.
