District administration teams have imposed a fine of over Rs 5.78 lakh on owners of 51 vehicles in the district. The vehicles were challaned in connection with illegal mining and transportation of mining mineral, and overloading.

Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said the teams drawn from the Mines and Geology Department, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), and SDMs of Jagadhri, Chhachhrauli, Vyaspur and Radaur checked 1,600 vehicles last night.

Chhachhrauli SDM's team checked 866 vehicles and challaned 18, and imposed a fine of Rs 1.34 lakh.

A team of the Jagadhri SDM checked 118 vehicles and imposed a fine of Rs 75,000 on the owners of 12 vehicles, which were found violating norms; while during the checking of 510 vehicles by the team of Radaur SDM, nine vehicles were challaned and a fine of Rs 1.48 lakh was imposed.

During the checking of 107 vehicles by the team of Vyaspur SDM, 12 vehicles were challaned.

Round-the-clock checking was being done by all SDMs, police department, the RTA and mining department officials of the district. “The teams are checking e-transit passes/rawanas of the vehicles carrying mining mineral. If any vehicle is found carrying mineral without e-transit passes, strict action is being taken against the owners/drivers of such vehicles,” said the DC.
