Rajpal of Baland village and Satish Kumar of Karontha village in Rohtak district had alleged that their muskmelon crop got badly damaged after they sprayed the insecticide/fungicide purchased from M/s Mahavir Agro Sales, Nai Anaj Mandi, Rohtak.

While Rajpal had sown muskmelon on 2 acres, Satish had sown the same on 1 acre of land. The complainants said they approached the firm owners following extensive damage to their crops, but they refused to compensate them for the losses suffered, following which they moved the Consumer Forum.

As per orders passed by District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum president Nagender Singh Kadyan and members Dr Renu Chaudhary and Tripti Pannu, the said firm has been asked to pay compensation at the rate of Rs 75,000 per acre along with 9 per cent interest from the date of filing of the complaint as well as Rs 5,000 for deficiency in service and litigation expenses to each farmer.
