As much as Rs 40,62,470 were stolen from the safe of the office of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), HUDA, Jagadhri.

On the complaint of the branch manager of LIC, Anil Kumar Goyal, a case was registered against unknown persons under Section 381, 406 and 420 of the IPC, yesterday.

The complainant said Rs 42,62,716 had been kept in the safe of the LIC branch, situated in Sector17 of HUDA, Jagadhri, at about 5.30 pm on November 27.
