Opposing the decision taken by the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to allow the stilt plus-4 scheme in the residential sectors during the model code of conduct in Panipat, the office-bearers of resident welfare associations (RWAs) of various sectors have decided to stage a protest at the HSVP’s Estate Office in Sector 18 on September 27.

The members alleged that the decision had been taken by the state under the pressure of builders, and the opinion of 268 RWAs was being ignored.

It was decided in an emergency meeting held in Sector 7 under the banner of ‘Haryana Sectors’ Confederation’, which was attended by the office-bearers of Sectors 7, 8, 40 and 24. Rampat Nain presided over the meeting while the president of Sector 7 RWA Randhir Singh.

Baljeet Singh, convener of Haryana Sectors’ Confederation, said the residents had been forced to face a lot of problems due to the absence of basic amenities for the last 7-8 years.

Despite the problem related to lack of basic amenities having been brought to the notice of the HSVP’s Chief Administrator, no change had taken place on the ground, he said.

He further alleged that the state government and the HSVP had given permission for the construction of four-storey buildings in the HSVP sectors under the pressure of the builders.

Baljeet Singh asked despite paying all charges, why were the basic amenities not being provided to the residents? He further alleged that the department had allotted tenders and work orders, but the works had not been completed. The HSVP officers never came to visit the site, which resulted in no development, he said.
