Sainik School hosts annual cross country ; 533 participate

He was joined by the vice principal, Lt Col Nirmal Jeet Singh, and the administrative officer, Sqn Ldr Soniya Sharma, who urged cadets to compete with determination and endurance along the designated routes.
A total of 533 cadets — 493 boys and 40 girls — participated in the event, with race distances ranging from three to seven kilometres, depending on age and category.
In the junior houses category, cadet Sumit clinched the top position. Chillianwala House emerged as the overall champion, followed by Panipat House in second place, Thaneshwar House third and Kurukshetra House fourth.
Among the holding houses, cadet Ravi Kumar secured first place. Shakargarh House won the championship, with Chhamb House finishing runners-up.
In the senior houses, cadet Aman from Thaneshwar House took first position. The championship trophy was lifted by Chillianwala House, marking a historic fourth consecutive win. Panipat House finished second, Kurukshetra House third and Thaneshwar House fourth.
In the girls’ category, Kalpana Chawla House claimed the championship title. Cadet Saumya secured first place in the senior division, while cadet Rishika topped the girls’ holding house category.
This year’s event was particularly momentous, with Chillianwala Senior House achieving a record fourth consecutive championship, while Chillianwala Junior House retained its title for the second year in a row.
The principal, Captain Gurbir Singh, lauded the participation of the cadets and acknowledged the collective efforts of the staff that contributed to the success of the event. He also extended warm Diwali greetings to all cadets, marking a festive end to a spirited competition.
