Sarvajatiya panchayat seeks IIT in Mahendragarh village
A Sarvajatiya panchayat held at the local residence of former Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma on Tuesday urged the state government to set up the proposed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in either Pali or Khudana as adequate land for the project is available in both the villages of the district.
On the occasion, a 21-member committee was formed to meet Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, requesting them to establish the IIT in either of the two villages.
“Located adjacent to the Central University, 300 acres are available in Pali and Khudana villages where the IIT campus can be established. The area is well-connected with water and road infrastructure, making it the most suitable location for the IIT. The Central government has decided to set up an IIT in Haryana. Pali and Khudana villages are the most appropriate locations for it in Mahendragarh,” said Sharma.
The veteran BJP leader said he had also requested support from MP Dharmbir Singh and MLA Kanwar Singh to establish the IIT in Pali or Khudana. He also expressed his determination to complete the dream of setting up IMT in Khudana.
Leaders from various communities, including Dr Abhayram Yadav, Rakesh Mehta, Kailash Saini, Dr Rakesh Kumar, Vijay Lakshmi, Ramesh Saini, Santosh, Leelaram, Master Kailash Sharma and sarpanches of many villages were also present at the panchayat.
