School principals trained in AI, child safety

An introductory training programme is underway at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Ding, Sirsa, for newly promoted principals from various schools across the district. On the seventh day of the programme, held on Saturday, Professor Dr Pankaj Sharma, dean of Humanities and director of community outreach at Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, attended as the chief guest and keynote speaker.

Dr Sharma delivered an engaging lecture on Artificial Intelligence (AI), explaining how AI is transforming education by providing personalised and adaptive learning experiences. He stressed that understanding AI is essential for making teaching and learning more effective and engaging in the future.

In the second session, Advocate Amit Sangwan, Assistant Attorney General for the Punjab Government, spoke about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He emphasised the importance of raising awareness among parents about sexual abuse and harassment to ensure a safe learning environment for students.

In the afternoon session, Dr Pradeep Kumar, head of the Computer Department at Government Girls College, Sirsa, delivered a detailed lecture on cyber safety.

The day concluded with feedback from the newly promoted principals, who shared their views on the effectiveness of the training programme.
