Rohtak, February 15

With a view to creating awareness about the hazards of plastic and vital significance of conserving the environment, The Tribune group of newspapers organised an inter-school painting competition on the theme ‘Stop Plastic, Save the World’ in Rohtak today.

As many as 286 students in the age group of 10-13 years from 41 schools exhibited their creative skills in the competition held on the premises of BP Jain Skill Development Centre in the city.

Addressing the participants, noted local industrialist-cum-social entrepreneur Rajesh Jain, who was the chief guest on the occasion, underlined the importance of saving water and shunning the use of plastic for conservation of environment.

Citing the outbreak of coronavirus infection, Jain exhorted the schoolchildren to adopt vegetarianism and lead a healthy lifestyle to keep health disorders at bay. He also laid emphasis on sensitising the children about keeping their surroundings clean and green.

Jain, along with Sandhya Jain, the director of the centre, gave away the prizes to the winners.

Divyansh of Pathania Public School, Rohtak, won the first prize — a sports bicycle. Kanak from IB School, Rohtak, won the second prize — a tab. The third prize — a digital camera — was won by Mansi of Vidya Shree International School, Rohtak.

Aishi Ahlawat and Kirti of IB School, Rohtak, stood fourth and fifth, respectively, and won a smartphone and a sporty wristwatch.

The winners of the consolation prize (colour kit) included Saksh of RKP School, Madina; Shivangi of Vidya Shree School; Aryan of RKP School, Aksh of Delhi Public School, Rohtak; Divya of Manav Rachna School, Rohtak; Lavanya of GD Goenka School, Rohtak; Anisha of Vaish Public School, Rohtak; Shristi of Delhi Public School; Vrinda of DAV School; Bhawna of HR Greenfield School; Keshav from Presidium, Hisar; Charita from Delhi Public School; Nisha from IB School; Nisha of IB School; Sristi from HR Greenfield School and Mansi from Model School, Rohtak.

All participants were given certificates of participation as well as writing kits.
