Schools overcharging, but govt doing nothing, claims Hooda
Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a former CM, has held the state government responsible for the arbitrariness of private schools who are allegedly leaving no stone unturned to extract money from parents.
He claimed that parents across the state were complaining that schools were charging various types of illegal fees. They also put pressure on parents to buy books only from some selected shops. The shopkeepers were charging up to six times more rate from parents, Hooda claimed, adding that, “Parents say that NCERT books usually come for Rs 650. But about Rs 4,000 are being charged from them for books.”
“Instead of building new schools, the existing schools are being closed. There is an undeclared ban on the recruitment of teachers in government schools. Not a single JBT recruitment took place during the entire 10-year tenure of the BJP. About 50,000 posts are lying vacant in the Education Department,” he said.
